Our client, a leading private defence contractor, is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to join their strategy team as a Director.
As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for developing and delivering innovative solutions to meet the evolving needs of the defence sector. You will work closely with senior executives to identify and structure strategic issues, and develop effective solutions to drive business transformation.
The role requires a strong understanding of the defence sector, including its dynamics, stakeholders, and challenges. You will be expected to build and maintain a network of senior client contacts, and develop thought leadership in the field.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Leading opportunity development and conversion, and designing and delivering engagements to meet client needs;
- Developing the defence sector capability within the strategy function and across the wider firm;
- Designing and leading practice development initiatives;
- Actively developing your own knowledge and expertise;
- Motivating, mentoring, and developing project team members and appraisers;
- Building and maintaining a strong external and internal network.
Required skills and experience include:
- Outstanding interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire teams and develop outstanding client relationships;
- Substantial experience of selling and delivering high-impact strategy and transformation projects to the C-suite in defence contractors;
- A demonstrable network of senior client contacts and a deep understanding of defence organisations' strategy, structure, and stakeholder dynamics;
- A mix of structured problem-solving skills, including strong numerical capabilities combined with sound commercial acumen;
- Excellent written English and oral communication skills, with the ability to deliver insightful recommendations that can be practically executed;
- Likely experience of working for a strategy house, big 4 firm, or central strategy/corporate development team, with experience of leading complex projects with multi-disciplinary teams;
- Experience of leading high-value business development activities and a track record of developing and mentoring team members;
- Strong values that consistently guide the way you do business, interact, and lead teams.
