Countrystyle Recycling is a leading waste management company operating in Kent, London, and the South East. Our fleet of modern waste management vehicles is one of the largest independent fleets in the region.

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Transport Planner to join our Rollon/Skips department. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing an effective, profitable, and compliant daily transport plan and managing fleet resources to ensure business requirements and customer satisfaction are met.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a daily transport plan to maximize operational and logistical performance.
  • Review, allocate, and schedule jobs for the Roll-on/skip fleet to ensure efficient use of resources.
  • Liaise with drivers to ensure effective vehicle resources are available and safe vehicle operations are maintained.
  • Review and support the optimization of fleet resources and operations to improve profitability and customer service.
  • Assist the Head of Rollons with analysis of Fleet KPIs and implementation of road transport compliance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Manage a team of drivers in line with Company policies and procedures.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders and external customers to resolve customer service queries.
  • Ensure that all queries within the transport operation are dealt with in a timely manner and in accordance with agreed service level agreements.
  • Coordinate with fleet workshops to ensure maintenance of vehicle defects raised by drivers.
  • Liaise with the Fleet Compliance team and coordinate the investigation of all road transport accidents.
  • Liaise with the Health and Safety team and coordinate the investigation of all personal injury accidents, as well as risk assessments of operations and customer sites.
  • Ensure that all relevant toolbox talks are delivered to drivers in line with Company policy.

Person Specification:

  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent people management skills.
  • Able to prioritize workload and work under pressure.
  • Good geographic knowledge of London and the South East.
  • Proficient with MS Office to include Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Full understanding of driver hours and driving regulations.
  • Previous experience in a planning role in a busy transport office environment.
  • Experience of dealing with internal and external customers and service providers.
  • GCSE grade A-C level education.
  • Demonstrate a positive and respectful attitude to others.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and support of others.
  • Versatility and willingness to learn.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of AMCS operating systems.
  • HGV Licence.
  • Full understanding of the London Lorry Control, ULEZ, and Congestion zone rules and regulations.
  • Previous experience in the Waste industry.
  • CPC.
