Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Initial Risk Underwriter to join our team at Legal & General. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will play a critical role in assessing and managing risk for our customers.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assess and Document Risk: Accurately review customer applications to identify potential risk factors and assess whether we can offer Life, Critical Illness Cover, and Income Protection applications.
  • Customer Service: Address customer requirements in a professional and efficient manner, ensuring that exceptional customer experience is delivered.
  • Complaints Handling: Identify and escalate complaints to authorized handlers, ensuring timely resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all work, enabling effective communication and business decision-making.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with legislative and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance and adherence to industry standards.
  • Communication: Effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring customer satisfaction and expectations are met.
  • Service Level Agreements: Understand and meet service level commitments made during the marketing and sales processes.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Proven experience working within a financial services organization.
  • Risk Assessment: Understanding of risk factors for mortality and morbidity (desirable).
  • Product Knowledge: Basic knowledge of all protection products (desirable).
  • Regulatory Awareness: Understanding of legislations and regulatory requirements (desirable).
  • Communication Skills: Effective written and verbal communication skills.
