About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Fleet Operations Manager to join our Housing Operations and Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) Team at Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils.

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing leadership and direction across materials, waste, and fleet management, developing strong partnerships with suppliers, and driving service excellence within the management of materials, waste, and fleet.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and monitor the performance of materials, equipment, and waste, and develop strategies to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and plans to ensure the effective management of the DLO's fleet, including risk management, compliance with legislation and regulations, and health and safety.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to improve performance, material compliance, and waste management, and ensure that materials and equipment are delivered when needed.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers to ensure that materials and equipment are delivered to the required standard and on time.
  • Develop and implement a fleet strategy to ensure operational efficiency and support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Education to degree level in logistics or a similar field, or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Strong contract, people, and performance management skills, with experience of developing and implementing strategies, policies, procedures, and plans.
  • Excellent project management and partnership working skills, with experience of working with suppliers and stakeholders.
  • Ability to analyze data and make recommendations to improve performance and efficiency.
  • Valid driving license and ability to work in a hybrid way, with a mix of office, home, and remote based working.
