About the RoleThe successful candidate will be responsible for managing the ward, ensuring the provision of safe, high-quality, and individualized care to patients. They will also be responsible for the line management and development of the ward staff.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the ward and ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care.
- Line manage and develop the ward staff, including planning and allocating workloads.
- Assist the Matron in managing staff performance issues, including sickness absence, capability, and discipline.
- Ensure effective and efficient use of the unit's beds, ensuring services are delivered within contract agreements.
- Liaise closely with the bed management team to ensure timely admission and discharge of patients.
- First-level nurse (RGN) qualification.
- Demonstrable post-registration professional development in general medicine.
- Significant experience in managing acute medical patients.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Risk management awareness.
- Time management skills.
- Excellent leadership qualities.
- Mentoring skills/teaching skills.
