Nursing Leadership Opportunity
Chesterfield Royal Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking an experienced and skilled nursing professional to fill the role of Sister/Charge Nurse. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the ward, ensuring the provision of high-quality patient care and the effective management of staff.
Key Responsibilities
Management
- Liaise with the matron to manage staff performance, including sickness absence, capability, and discipline.
- Plan and manage the allocation of workload to meet patient needs.
- Ensure the effective use of beds and services within contract agreements.
Patient Care
- Assess patient care needs and develop individualized programs of care.
- Support senior and less-experienced staff in the provision of patient care.
- Explore new ways of working to enhance patient care.
Multidisciplinary Liaison
- Liaise with all disciplines and departments that interface with care delivery.
- Foster good working relationships between multidisciplinary team members.
Clinical Governance
- Assist the matron in setting, maintaining, and monitoring standards of care.
- Support the development and implementation of a written nursing philosophy.
- Ensure an approach to care that recognizes patient needs and views.
Education & Training
- Participate in ongoing personal and professional development.
- Act as a mentor and teacher to staff members.
- Facilitate learning environments for skills acquisition.
Research & Audit
- Demonstrate a commitment to research skills and participation in research studies.
- Support the development of multidisciplinary clinical audit.
Requirements
Qualifications
- First-level nurse registration (RGN) is essential.
- Demonstrable post-registration professional development in general medicine is required.
Experience
- Significant experience in managing acute medical patients is necessary.
Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Risk management awareness and time management skills are essential.
- Leadership qualities and mentoring skills are necessary.
