As part of the South West Prison Healthcare initiative, we are expanding our team and are in search of dedicated and empathetic Staff Nurses to join our supportive workforce.
Our healthcare professionals play a crucial role in enhancing health and wellness for those in custody. We take pride in employing methods and strategies that foster hope for patients as they prepare for reintegration into society. Our services encompass Mental Health, Physical Health, Pharmacy, and Clinical Substance Misuse, delivered through an integrated healthcare model aimed at providing effective and responsive care.
Key Responsibilities
The role of our Staff Nurses is diverse and dynamic, ensuring that each day presents new challenges. You will be expected to exercise a significant degree of professional autonomy, making complex and critical decisions. Your responsibilities will include delivering high-quality clinical care within the Integrated Healthcare Service, which covers:
- Acute and primary care
- Management of long-term conditions
- Enhanced assessment and diagnostic interventions
- Health promotion initiatives
To fulfill these duties, you will need to demonstrate robust clinical skills and a thorough understanding of evidence-based nursing practices, ensuring quality and outcome-driven care on a daily basis.
Our Staff Nurses are involved in three primary areas:
- Reception and initial assessments
- Primary healthcare services
- Emergency response operations
As a Staff Nurse, you will conduct screenings for new arrivals, completing comprehensive assessments to identify their immediate needs during their initial days.
You will also manage daily clinics addressing urgent care needs and routine primary healthcare services, including long-term condition management, immunizations, wound care, health screenings, and care planning.
In addition, our Staff Nurses respond to emergencies occurring within the facility, ensuring safety and health across various areas.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
Required:
- Registered Nurse with NMC qualification (RGN)
- Experience in collaborative multi-professional environments
