About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Residential Childcare Worker to join our team at Spark of Genius, a leading provider of residential childcare services in Scotland.

As a Senior Residential Childcare Worker, you will play a key role in supporting our young people to develop strong and positive relationships, and to provide a therapeutic and peaceful environment for them to learn, grow and develop.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide a supervisory and mentoring role to Residential Childcare Workers, ensuring they have the skills, knowledge and ability to care for children and young people effectively.
  • Take responsibility for practice development of the care team, including allocated supervision and performance management of staff.
  • Ensure that the care team have a deep understanding of the daily routines of the home and are able to deliver high-quality care to our young people.
  • Support on-call arrangements as a Senior Member of the team, ensuring that the needs of our young people are met at all times.
  • Assist with management tasks, including finance, fleet, environment and Health and Safety, staffing matters, and training and development.
  • Contribute to assessment and care plan arrangements, participating in reviews and other meetings as necessary.
  • Ensure that both local authority and internal care plans are in place and that staff fully understand their role.
  • Deputise in the absence of the management team, where necessary.
Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Residential Childcare Worker.
  • A high standard of reporting and recording.
  • Experience of working in a mentoring role.
  • Wide knowledge of the behaviours displayed by children and young people and an understanding of a myriad of intervention strategies.
  • Working knowledge of legislation in relation to childcare, including National Care Standards and Child Protection.
  • An understanding of the process of child development.
  • Knowledge of how to apply systems and processes within residential homes that are compliant with the National Care Standards.
  • Ability to work shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • An ability to assist in on-call arrangements to meet business needs.
