Position Overview

This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in a 12-month fellowship at King's College Hospital, focusing on Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery. The selected candidate will be an essential part of the Trauma and Orthopaedics Department, contributing significantly to the management of specialized trauma cases. The fellow will collaborate with a team of experienced Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant Surgeons, enhancing their skills under the guidance of a dedicated clinical supervisor.

Key Responsibilities

The appointee will dedicate their time to research in Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery, with flexibility to accommodate educational needs. Responsibilities include:

  • Participating in outpatient clinics, including Fracture and Orthoplastics.
  • Collaborating with the Orthopaedic on-call team to develop clinical expertise in managing critically injured patients.
  • Engaging with various specialists, including General Surgeons, Anaesthetists, and Radiologists, to understand the multidisciplinary approach required for effective trauma management.
  • Contributing to the teaching programs for junior doctors and medical students.
  • Overseeing collaborative research initiatives with other major trauma centers.

Qualifications & Skills

Essential:

  • Medical Degree
  • Full Registration (or eligibility) with the General Medical Council (GMC)
  • Experience in Audit

Desirable:

  • MRCS
  • Completion of Quality Improvement Projects
  • Research and Publications
  • Presentation experience

Interpersonal Skills

The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills, ensuring effective collaboration within the department.
