Position Overview
This role offers a unique opportunity to engage in a 12-month appointment focused on Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery at a leading healthcare institution. The selected candidate will be an essential part of the Trauma and Orthopaedics Department, contributing significantly to the management of complex trauma cases. The Fellow will collaborate with a team of experienced Trauma and Orthopaedic Consultant Surgeons, enhancing their skills and knowledge in trauma surgery.
Key Responsibilities
The appointee will dedicate their time to conducting research in Orthopaedic Trauma Surgery, with flexibility to accommodate educational needs. Responsibilities include:
- Participation in outpatient clinics, including Fracture and Orthoplastics.
- Collaboration with the Orthopaedic on-call team to gain insights into managing critically injured patients.
- Engagement with various specialists, including Trauma Surgeons, Anaesthetists, and Radiologists, to understand the multidisciplinary approach required for effective trauma management.
- Involvement in teaching junior doctors and medical students, as well as contributing to the research portfolio, including National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) trials.
- Liaison with other major trauma centers to foster collaborative research efforts.
Educational and Professional Development
The Fellow will have opportunities to enhance their management skills through leadership programs and will be expected to oversee the teaching curriculum for junior doctors. This role emphasizes a commitment to personal health, safety, and well-being, as well as adherence to the policies and standards of the healthcare institution.
