This role is dynamic and requires adaptability, as no two days are alike in this fast-paced environment. While it can be challenging, the rewards of this position are significant.

Important Note: Due to the nature of the responsibilities involved, candidates must possess a full driver's license.


Salary: £24,974 - plus £30 per sleep-in shift
Location: Ludlow
Work Schedule: 2 on 4 off or 1 on 2 off shift pattern
Employment Type: Permanent

Key Responsibilities of a Youth Care Residential Support Specialist

  • Encourage young individuals to engage in activities and take ownership of their lives based on their age.
  • Maintain a warm and welcoming atmosphere within the residential setting.
  • Effectively manage challenging behaviors when necessary.
  • Safeguard the health and welfare of children and young people.
  • Provide support to promote the independence and well-being of residents.
  • Ensure a safe living environment for all young individuals.
  • Stay informed about each resident's care plan, guidelines, reward systems, and preferred communication methods.
  • Support individuals through challenging behaviors with empathy and understanding.
  • Foster positive relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the lives of the young people.



Qualifications for the Youth Care Residential Support Specialist Position

  • Previous experience as a Youth Care Residential Support Worker or in a similar role with young people is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Experience in another healthcare or social care setting is advantageous.
  • A valid driver's license is required for transporting young individuals as needed.
  • Candidates must be at least 21 years of age.
  • NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children & Young People is preferred.
  • Ability to commute to Ludlow is essential.
