Construction North is part of our UK Construction business and includes the Midlands, the North, and Scotland. Projects on average range between £5 - £50 million and are primarily procured through Public Sector Frameworks such as MoJ, DfE, Alliance Leisure, Pagabo, and the North West Construction Hub, with some projects in the Private Sector. Sectors include Sports & Leisure, Justice, Defence, Education, Blue Light, Health, and Commercial offices / workspace.

The Opportunity

Working from the Bradford office, which also covers the Yorkshire and Humber areas, we have a strong portfolio of live projects and a strong future pipeline across the North East. Examples of some locations are Doncaster, Sheffield, York, Bishop Auckland, and Stockton-on-Tees.

Role Purpose
  • Take financial responsibility & accountability for a strategically key project within a division as a site-based Senior Quantity Surveyor.
  • To take responsibility for the regular review of financial performance of projects within the division in order to improve financial certainty and maximize commercial success of projects.
  • To ensure best practice and continuous improvement in divisional financial processes on site.
  • To provide high-quality management information and support, monitor, and advice to financial staff throughout the division.
Key Accountabilities
  • Manage project financial teams in line with the values, psychological contract, and culture of ISG.
  • To take a lead role in the valuation process where applicable, including ensuring valuations and invoices are issued on time.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of element costings and costs/ft2.
  • Advise on product selection, specifications, and assist with value engineering exercises.
  • Advise on selection of Sub-Contractors for package works.
  • Complete the final account administration and manage the retention release close out.
Skills & Experience
  • Experience of different contracts forms, which need to include one of the management forms, 2-stage, single-stage, and Design & Build.
  • Experience in establishing, managing, and leading a large project team and/or multiple smaller project teams.
  • Experience as a Lead Surveyor on projects ranging between £20m to £50m.
  • Experience in claims resolution both with the Employer and Sub-Contractor.
  • Recognized qualification in a building-related subject.
  • Recognized chartership with MCIOB or MRICS is preferable.
