About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Operations Controller to join our team at AB Volvo. As an Operations Controller, you will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless coordination and efficiency of our operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process Management: Proactively manage the Goods Vehicle Service (GVS) process from planning to invoice/claim closure, ensuring that all stakeholders are working in line with the standard Operating and Technical Instructions (OTI) process.
  • Quality and Productivity: Ensure that service and repair work is completed to time and quality standards, and all invoice/claim documents are complete and accurate.
  • Customer Management: Manage customer expectations, job profitability, and workshop productivity targets to ensure optimal workshop profitability.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage the performance of the service department, ensuring that Key Performance Indicators (KPI) targets are achieved.
  • Resource Management: Manage and plan workshop/support resources to ensure that OTI process requirements can be fulfilled on each shift.
  • Support and Development: Support the Customer Service Representative (CSR) and Workshop Supervisor as required, ensuring that job specification, codification, and quoting preparation tasks are completed on a timely basis.
  • Problem-Solving: Anticipate and resolve production problems based on forward planning and resource availability.
  • Performance Monitoring: Monitor staff performance versus standard role requirements and personal objectives, identifying areas for development and implementing plans to address competence issues.
  • Training and Development: Ensure that appropriate training and support are provided on a timely basis to bridge competency gaps identified.
  • Reporting and Control: Manage and process productive wage submission on a monthly basis, and plan, report, and control all lost and non-available hours in line with budget KPI.
  • Business Planning: Assist the Service/Dealerpoint Manager in the production of the annual business plan.
  • Health, Safety, and Quality: Work in accordance with Volvo Group UK standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental care.
  • Customer Meetings: Manage scheduled meetings with customers.
Requirements
  • Experience: Experience of working within the motor vehicle industry, preferably with a technical background from working within a commercial workshop.
  • Knowledge: Full knowledge of VOSA requirements and MOT testers manual, knowledge of workshop KPI, and experience of leading teams.
  • Education: City and Guilds, NVQ 3 or equivalent in Motor Vehicle Technology.
