Overview

We are seeking a dedicated professional to support families, children, and young individuals alongside educational institutions through the Education Health and Care Needs Assessment and Annual Review Process.

Positions are available at grade 6 in our Aylesbury and Wycombe offices, with hybrid working arrangements (3 days remote work) offered. Please specify your preferred location when applying.

About Buckinghamshire Council

Buckinghamshire Council is a newly formed entity that merges the strengths of the previous five councils in the region to foster positive changes for local residents, communities, and businesses. Our commitment is to enhance service delivery and provide robust representation for Buckinghamshire at both local and national levels.

Our Integrated SEND Service is dedicated to assisting children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) residing in Buckinghamshire, ensuring they achieve optimal outcomes.

Our Vision:

  • Enable children to reach their fullest potential.
  • Facilitate attendance at educational settings close to home.
  • Ensure skilled professionals support their learning journey.
  • Foster a love for learning, instilling confidence and value.
  • Encourage active participation in decisions impacting their lives.
  • Support their development into confident adults within their communities.

Role Responsibilities

In this position, you will adopt a child-centered approach to coordinate EHC needs assessments, fostering strong relationships with children, families, and various professionals. Your collaboration with families will be crucial in developing effective EHC Plans that highlight the strengths and needs of each child or young person, ensuring they have every opportunity to flourish and realize their aspirations.

You will be responsible for effective planning to guarantee that annual reviews are conducted and updated, while promptly addressing correspondence from parents, educational settings, and other stakeholders.

Our team is committed to placing children and young people at the forefront of our efforts. While the work can be demanding, we pride ourselves on offering a friendly and supportive environment.

Additional Information

As an 'any-desk' worker, you will need to connect to our network to access digital resources, whether from home or an office location as required. Office attendance will be necessary a few times a week, depending on your role and team needs.

Candidate Profile

To excel in this role, you should possess excellent communication skills, enabling you to build strong relationships with families and professionals to achieve the best outcomes for the children you support. Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities are essential, as you will be assisting in leading a dynamic and committed integrated SEND service.

A background in SEND, along with knowledge of the statutory processes outlined in the SEND Code of Practice (2015), the Children and Families Act (2014), and the Equality Act, is highly desirable.
