About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Lawyer with expertise in Special Educational Needs (SEN) Education to join our team at Reed. As a key member of our Litigation Team, you will provide professional and innovative legal services to our public sector and not-for-profit clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a caseload of complex SEN Tribunal cases with minimal supervision, ensuring timely and effective resolution.
  • Undertake advocacy in case management and final hearings in the first-tier SEND Tribunal, and instruct counsel as needed to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Identify and manage risks associated with SEN legal practice, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.
  • Attend client liaison meetings to discuss ongoing cases and ensure service quality, building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Act as a point of contact for various cases, including taking instructions, giving advice, preparing applications, drafting documents, and providing representation in courts or tribunals.
  • Develop and deliver legal training to clients in specific areas of law, enhancing their knowledge and skills.
  • Support the management team in building and maintaining client relationships and ensuring compliance with SRA and practice management requirements.
  • Contribute to the development and mentoring of colleagues within the Litigation Team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Qualified Lawyer with experience in SEN Education law, possessing a strong understanding of relevant regulations and best practices.
  • Proven ability to manage complex legal cases independently, with a track record of successful case management and resolution.
  • Strong advocacy skills with experience in SEND Tribunal hearings, able to effectively represent clients and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Excellent research, application preparation, and document drafting skills, with the ability to produce high-quality documents and presentations.
  • Ability to provide comprehensive legal advice and representation, with a strong focus on client satisfaction and service quality.
  • Experience in client training and development in legal skills and law areas, with a passion for sharing knowledge and expertise.
  • Familiarity with SRA regulations, practice management, and accreditation schemes, with a strong understanding of relevant compliance requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build effective working relationships, with a focus on collaboration and teamwork.
