Apprentice HGV Mechanic

Join us in making a significant impact as an Apprentice HGV Mechanic at our Biffa facility.

In response to our ongoing expansion, Biffa is seeking dedicated HGV mechanics to become integral members of our team. As an HGV Mechanic at Biffa Waste Services, you will contribute to the upkeep of our fleet of contemporary waste collection LGV/HGV vehicles within our workshops.

This role will equip you with the skills to perform maintenance and repairs on waste collection vehicles and equipment, encompassing a variety of makes, models, and types, from smaller vans to articulated units and trailers.

Your learning journey will include;

Conducting servicing and repairs of vehicle chassis and cabs in accordance with VOSA standards, including MOT preparation and presentation Maintaining and repairing waste handling machinery, which includes electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems Diagnosing and rectifying vehicle faults Upholding a high standard of organization, both digitally and on paper Assisting with health and safety matters to maintain our OHSAS18001 certification

Qualifications

What we are looking for:

Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with effective decision-making and problem-solving abilities. A valid driving license, Category B.
