We are thrilled to present a remarkable opportunity for a Lead Bioinformatics Scientist to become a vital part of our innovative team in Cambridge. In this role, you will collaborate closely with engineering, chemistry, and assay teams on cutting-edge R&D initiatives aimed at advancing new sequencing technologies.

This position is designed for a seasoned professional who will leverage their comprehensive expertise in bioinformatics to spearhead and drive various projects. We welcome candidates from diverse locations, whether you prefer a Hub and Hybrid setup, onsite, or remote within the UK.

As a key contributor to the Bioinformatics Scientist team, you will play a pivotal role in supporting bioinformatics efforts across interdisciplinary programs, which include:

  • Establishing bioinformatics objectives and specifications
  • Overseeing data analysis initiatives
  • Creating innovative tools and analytical pipelines
  • Influencing project direction and strategy

Required Experience and Skills

  • Proficient programming skills with experience in at least one programming language, such as Python or R
  • Knowledge of next-generation sequencing methodologies
  • Experience in analyzing and visualizing data from next-generation sequencing and large datasets
  • Familiarity with standard bioinformatics workflows and data formats
  • Strong grasp of statistical and biological principles
  • Experience working in Unix/Linux environments, including shell scripting and High Performance Computing (HPC) cluster operations
  • Experience in designing or developing automated workflows (preferred)
  • Excellent communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate within a diverse team

Educational Background:

A Masters or PhD in bioinformatics, computer science, data science, engineering, mathematics, or a related field is required.
