Care Support Assistant Job Description

Job Title: Care Support Assistant

Directorate: Care and Support Directorate

Responsible to: Scheme Manager(s)

Job Purpose:

To deliver high-quality care and support services that promote the welfare and wellbeing of residents/tenants, safeguarding them from harm, and encouraging their participation in the life of the Scheme.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Report any maintenance problems promptly to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  2. Participate in staff meetings and training activities to maintain a high standard of care and comply with best practice.
  3. Aware of the individual resident's/tenant's care and support needs, responding accordingly, and affording dignity, respect, and choice.
  4. Support residents/tenants in participating in daily activities to promote independence, self-esteem, and a sense of fulfillment.
  5. Assist with personal care, including dressing, undressing, bathing, toileting, and managing incontinence.
  6. Help residents/tenants with mobility difficulties and provide support with the use and care of aids and equipment.
  7. Provide end-of-life care and support for residents/tenants with terminal illnesses.
  8. Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable living environment, including laundry and management of soiled laundry.
  9. Support residents/tenants with daily dietary needs, including meal preparation and assistance at mealtimes.
  10. Provide a high level of customer service, welcoming visitors, answering phones, and responding to emergency calls professionally.
  11. Complete daily reports, participate in staff and resident/tenant meetings, and attend training activities as required.
  12. Discuss and encourage residents/tenants to participate in activities, facilitating events to meet their physical and cognitive needs.
  13. Undertake other duties as designated by the Scheme Manager, consistent with the post's role and grade.

Maintain a safe working environment, report maintenance problems, and adhere to policies and procedures.

Act in accordance with Health and Safety at Work policies and work in accordance with work policy.

This post requires flexibility and may involve working outside normal business hours.
