Job Title: Early Years Play Development Practitioner, Community Wing

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Early Years Play Development Practitioner to join our team at Perth and Kinross Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating, delivering, and supporting the development of play experiences for children, young people, and their families in the community.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate a wide range of quality play opportunities in school playground environments and communities.
  • Share good practice and liaise with a range of professionals, including teachers, social workers, and community leaders.
  • Identify and develop appropriate play experiences and opportunities for children, manage, coordinate, and evaluate the delivery of play provision.
  • Devising new and imaginative resources to support flexible methods of delivery of play provision and training for those involved in play services.
  • Promote the importance and benefits of play and play types (indoors and outdoors) for the health, wellbeing, and overall development of children, young people, and families.
  • Encourage families to develop skills, confidence, motivation, and ownership of play.
  • Support the development of play within communities.

Requirements:

  • SNNEB, NNEB, SVQ3 in Playworker, Care Learning and Development, Early Education and Childcare, or Social Services (Children and Young People) or HNC in Childcare and Education or Childhood Practice.
  • A valid, full UK driving licence is essential as the role involves transporting play resources throughout the Perth & Kinross Council area.

Desirable Qualities:

  • Supervisory skills to manage a team of professionals delivering play activities.
  • Excellent communication skills to motivate and engage with staff and children.
  • Flexibility to work on your own or as part of a team, using your own initiative.

Working Arrangements:

This is a 30 hours per week post based at the Community Wing, Perth Grammar School, with some evening work and occasional weekends.
