Key Responsibilities- Research and Development: Conduct in-depth research on polymer and composite materials, including studying their properties, behavior, and applications in relation to specific processing techniques.
- Material Formulation: Recommend alternative polymer formulations to meet specific project requirements and industry standards.
- Project Management: Manage multiple projects, covering project planning, WBS (work breakdown structure), and critical path analysis.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including researchers, engineers, chemists, and technicians, to exchange knowledge, coordinate projects, and ensure effective collaboration.
- Communication: Present research findings, project updates, and technical reports to customers and stakeholders.
- Quality Control: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement cost-effective measures, including establishing quality control procedures and specifications for materials and processes.
- Troubleshooting: Investigate and troubleshoot issues related to polymer materials & processes, including defects, inconsistencies, and performance problems via root cause analysis, data analysis, and validation techniques to implement corrective actions.
- Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Polymer engineering or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5-7 years' experience in the polymer or composite industry, with a strong background in material development and processing techniques.
- Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and propose innovative solutions. Proficiency in polymer processing techniques such as extrusion, injection molding, compounding, prepreging, and coatings.
- Travel: Candidate is expected to travel within the UK and abroad to perform projects, visit suppliers, and customers.
