Position Summary:
We are seeking a qualified Controller of Site Safety to join our team. In this permanent role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring the safety and efficiency of operations on site.
Key Responsibilities:
- Promote and oversee safe working practices among all team members, adhering to established procedures and guidelines.
- Engage in railway maintenance tasks, including but not limited to civil engineering and scour works.
- Execute various construction responsibilities as assigned, such as de-vegetation, machine operation, and drainage management.
- Ensure that all equipment, tools, and materials are maintained in good condition and used appropriately, reporting any issues to management.
- Utilize and care for personal protective equipment (PPE), requesting replacements as necessary.
- Collaborate with the General Foreman/Site Manager to identify and implement safety improvements.
- Mentor and guide less experienced team members in their tasks.
- Assist with site documentation as required for reporting to Head Office.
- Encourage teamwork to leverage diverse skill sets and meet project deadlines effectively.
Qualifications:
- PTS certification is essential.
- COSS certification is required.
- Experience in civil engineering and the rail sector is necessary.
- Willingness to work away from home, including nights and weekends, is essential.
- Additional qualifications in SSSTS, CSCS, PASMA, IPAF, First Aid, and experience with various machinery are advantageous.
Compensation:
Competitive rates based on experience:
- Weekday: £16.76
- Weeknight: £20.96
- Weekend day: £16.76
- Saturday night: £25.48
Contracted hours are 40 per week, with overtime compensated at the same rates.
