Job Title: Health and Safety Service Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Service Manager to join our team at Leeds City Council. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading our health and safety efforts, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations, and promoting a culture of safety and well-being among our employees and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective health and safety strategies to minimize risks and ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Lead and manage a team of health and safety professionals to ensure the delivery of high-quality services.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with other departments and stakeholders to promote a culture of safety and well-being.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with external partners and suppliers to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on health and safety procedures and protocols.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Monitor and report on health and safety performance metrics and trends.

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree or equivalent experience in a related field.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in occupational safety and health.
  • Proven experience in health and safety management, preferably in a local government or public sector setting.
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and identify trends and patterns.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and make sound judgments.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
