Job Overview

Position: Food Service Operations Manager

Salary: £33,500 - £36,500 per annum (Depending on experience)

Key Responsibilities

As the Food Service Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food service operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services by managing the team and collaborating with colleagues, with a focus on safety, efficiency, and value.

Catering Strategy Development

  • Implement a revised catering policy
  • Enhance the catering structure
  • Oversee a robust, efficient, and streamlined procurement process
  • Collaborate with various teams to devise strategies for maximizing revenue

Catering Operations Management

  • Supervise different teams to guarantee the preparation of nutritionally balanced meals in accordance with established frameworks

Food Quality and Safety Assurance

  • Ensure high standards of food quality, presentation, and taste; maintain compliance with safety and hygiene regulations; and manage inventory and procurement processes

Menu Planning and Innovation

  • Design diverse and appealing menus tailored to various customer preferences and dietary needs, while staying informed about food trends

Relationship Building

  • Establish and nurture strong relationships with colleagues and suppliers, while identifying opportunities for enhancing catering services

Financial Oversight

  • Develop and manage catering budgets, monitor costs, and create a diverse range of income streams
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations
  • Ensure all mandatory training is current for all catering staff

Required Skills and Qualifications

Essential:

  • GCSE Grade C or above, or equivalent, in Maths and English
  • Relevant vocational qualifications, such as an NVQ in Hospitality, Catering, or Food and Beverage Service
  • Certifications like the Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering or the Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering
  • Extensive experience in catering management or the hospitality sector
  • Demonstrated success in managing a multifunctional catering operation
  • Proven experience in leading high-performing teams
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and industry best practices
  • Experience in effective budget management
  • Familiarity with catering standards and the associated risks of catering events
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office and catering software
  • Willingness to work at events outside standard office hours, including evenings and weekends as necessary
