Legal Counsel

Our flexible cloud-based payments platform is purpose-built for performance and scalability, enabling global enterprises to launch new products and create customer experiences that drive loyalty.
About the RoleAs a Legal Counsel, you'll work closely with our commercial, product, engineering, and information security teams to provide real-time legal advice and find creative solutions to achieve business objectives. You'll advise on privacy and data protection matters across our geographies, partner with our teams to develop innovative payment products and services, and support relationships with data privacy regulators.
Key Responsibilities- Advise on privacy and data protection matters, leveraging external counsel when necessary.
- Partner with commercial, product, engineering, and information security teams to provide real-time legal advice.
- Support the development, launch, and management of innovative payment products and services.
- Advise key business functions on new regulatory developments and emerging technologies.
- Support relationships with data privacy regulators.
- Implement Checkout's privacy governance framework, ensuring compliance with global privacy requirements.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior legal team members.
- Qualified solicitor/lawyer (5+ PQE) with strong post-qualification experience in-house or in private practice.
- Significant experience in a dedicated privacy and data protection role.
- Ability to handle and deliver on numerous high-priority projects concurrently.
- Practical, solutions-oriented approach to solving legal challenges.
- Strong communication skills and ability to articulate complex legal issues clearly.
