Fixed term contract | Competitive salary | Full-time or job share options available
Welcome Bonus: We provide a £2000 welcome payment for qualified and experienced Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Practice Consultants, and Team Managers joining Norfolk County Council. This amount is subject to repayment if the individual leaves within two years of employment.
Salary Matching: For experienced Social Workers transitioning to Norfolk County Council, we strive to match or exceed your current salary, provided it aligns with the advertised grade.
About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has emerged within the Adult Mental Health Social Care service, specifically within the Countywide Mental Health duty team. We are seeking a Practice Consultant to cover maternity leave for the current post-holder. The role can be fulfilled either full-time or through a job share arrangement. Hybrid working options are available, allowing flexibility to work from various office locations or remotely.
In this role, you will engage in daily operational tasks, which include allocating responsibilities and providing support to assistant practitioners across five locality teams. Key functions may involve property protection duties, crisis assessments, urgent care package commissioning, and initial management of safeguarding referrals.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to perform under pressure, maintain organization, and effectively prioritize and assess risks associated with cases referred to the locality teams.
While knowledge and experience in mental health support are advantageous, they are not mandatory, as a comprehensive induction will be provided prior to the current post-holder's departure. Continuous development will be supported through regular supervision, training, and mentorship.
Collaboration with colleagues in a dynamic environment is essential, as you will liaise with various professionals from both Norfolk County Council and external organizations. Most interactions will occur via telephone, although occasional face-to-face assessments and interventions will be necessary. Therefore, access to transportation is required.
You will also be responsible for supervising practitioners who handle the duty function on a permanent basis.
Benefits:
Norfolk County Council is dedicated to the learning and development of its employees. We offer all Social Workers and Occupational Therapists a protected half-day each month for professional development and training.
We aim to inspire and motivate our staff to work collaboratively, optimize our workspaces, maintain a healthy work-life balance, and deliver exceptional services to the community. Flexibility is integral to our operations, with hybrid working being a prominent feature for many roles. Our technology and equipment are top-notch, facilitating seamless remote collaboration.
Application Process:
Candidates are encouraged to include a statement in their application that demonstrates how they meet the person specification and job description for this position. Applications without a supporting statement will not be considered. Registration with Social Work England or HCPC as a practicing Social Worker or Occupational Therapist is required.
Additional Benefits:
- Relocation expenses paid upfront (where applicable)
- Local Government Pension Scheme with generous employer contributions, life assurance, and dependants' pensions
- Referral payments for recommending candidates for hard-to-fill positions
- Tax-efficient options for additional pension contributions, new bicycles, and electric vehicles
We recommend reviewing the full job description to ensure you meet the criteria.
