Job Details

Ormiston Meridian Academy is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their Learning Support Team/SEND department. The successful candidate will work closely with students with learning difficulties, disabilities, and other barriers to their learning in mainstream classes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Establish supportive relationships with students
  • Support SEND students on a 1:1 basis outside of the classroom
  • Work with SEND students in classes and small groups
  • Plan and deliver interventions to support student learning
  • Liaise with subject staff, students, and SENCO to ensure effective support
  • Work with other professionals and outside agencies to provide holistic support
  • Communicate regularly with parents and carers to update them on student progress

Requirements
  • GCSE English and Maths at grade C or above or hold certificates in Literacy and Numeracy Professional Skills
  • Functional Skills Level 3
  • Must hold or be willing to work towards Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification

  • Awareness of strategies to support students with various SEND needs
  • Ability to work constructively as part of a team and demonstrate initiative and flexibility
  • Positive role model in the Academy community
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills to relate well to a wide range of people
  • Ability to positively manage behaviour and focus learners on tasks
