About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Senior Eating Disorder Specialist to join our team at Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. As a key member of our Eating Disorder Service, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care to individuals with eating disorders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Act as an autonomous practitioner within the Eating Disorder Service, responsible for a clinical caseload using the Care Programme Approach.
  • Accept and assess patients referred to the service, developing packages of care to meet highly specialized needs.
  • Supply specialist education, supervision, and support to clinical staff in Primary and Secondary Health settings.
  • Participate in the monitoring of standards and outcomes within the Service.
  • Advise Trust clinical staff, Primary care staff, and staff of voluntary agencies on clinical practices for Eating Disorders.
  • Attend multi-disciplinary team meetings as required.
  • Act as a resource person, providing advice to generic general adult psychiatric services on ED interventions and services.
Requirements
  • Experience and skills in working with people with eating disorders, underpinned with specialist theoretical knowledge.
  • Extensive evidence of post-qualification experience, including community working experience.
  • Formal postgraduate diploma-level qualification in a relevant field, such as CBT or Clinical Leadership.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize a complex caseload, demonstrating excellent risk assessment and management skills.
  • Experience in supervising other staff members, including colleagues of other professions and grades.
  • Good in-depth working knowledge of medical implications related to eating disorders.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
