We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Chief Data Engineer to join our team at Amazon. As a key member of our Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) team, you will be responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of our data centers, including the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.
Key Responsibilities- Shift Coverage and Team Leadership: Participate in a 24 x 7 rotating shift roster and provide leadership to a team of Engineering Operations Technicians.
- Contractor and Vendor Management: Manage on-site contractors, sub-contractors, and vendors to ensure all work is performed in accordance with established practices and local legislation.
- Performance Benchmarking and Reporting: Establish performance benchmarks, conduct analyses, and prepare reports on all aspects of critical facility infrastructure operations and maintenance.
- Project Management and Coordination: Work with DC managers and other business leaders to coordinate projects, manage capacity, and optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability, and efficiency.
- Documentation and Asset Management: Establish documentation relevant to business and facility operations, and manage facility assets and infrastructure inventory.
- Emergency Services and Maintenance: Review the management of routine maintenance and emergency services on critical systems such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, and building monitoring systems.
- Facility Design and Implementation: Assist in the design, implementation, commissioning, and build-out of new facilities, and drive projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability.
- Team Supervision and Issue Resolution: Day-to-day supervision of a team of Engineering Operations Technicians and assist in the resolution of any infrastructure engineering or services issues.
Our team at Amazon owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on.
Requirements- Ability to participate and manage a 24 x 7 rotating shift roster with team leadership experience.
- 4+ years of relevant work experience in maintaining a DC or Critical Space facility, or other critical environment with Technical (Military/Trade School) training.
- Further education in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant discipline.
