About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Operational Planner to join our team at Network Rail. As a key member of our capacity planning team, you will play a vital role in crafting train timetables that meet the needs of our customers and maximize the efficiency of our rail network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain complex train timetables, balancing a wide range of factors to ensure safe and efficient rail operations.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to understand customer needs and develop innovative solutions to capacity analysis and optimization challenges.
  • Work closely with our maintenance and improvement teams to ensure that our timetables take into account critical work and minimize disruptions to services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with customers, explaining and negotiating the best possible schedules for them.
  • Participate in our extensive training program to develop the skills and knowledge required to excel in this role.
Requirements
  • Good analytical skills and the ability to quickly learn to use sophisticated train planning software.
  • A flair for negotiation and persuasion, with the ability to engage with customers and build collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
  • Experience in delivering to agreed timelines and standards, with a strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
