Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Fire Design Engineer to join our team at Protec Fire Detection PLC. As a Fire Design Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and implementing fire alarm systems that meet the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Implementation: Design and implement fire alarm systems in accordance with British Standard 5839, ensuring that all systems meet the required standards and regulations.
  • Quotation and Estimation: Produce accurate quotations and estimates for fire alarm system installations, taking into account client requirements and British Standards.
  • System Layout and Configuration: Design and configure fire sensors and associated equipment, ensuring that all systems are properly laid out and configured to meet client needs.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with sales managers, sales engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that all fire alarm systems are designed and implemented to meet client requirements.
  • Design Documentation: Prepare and submit design documentation for fire alarm systems, including system architecture and schematic diagrams.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct internal checks on design drawings to ensure that all systems meet the required standards and regulations.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: A full electrical-based qualification, such as City & Guilds, ONC, or HNC.
  • Experience: Working knowledge of current British Standards and experience in a similar role on large multi-service projects.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to produce and read technical drawings and specifications, excellent eye for detail, and proficiency in Microsoft computer packages, including Excel, Word, Access, and Outlook.
  • Personal Qualities: Enthusiasm and willingness to learn, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work as part of a team.
