About the Role:

Fujitsu is seeking a highly skilled Database Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our database team, you will be responsible for the administration and continuous monitoring of DB2 databases.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administration and continuous monitoring of DB2 databases to ensure optimal performance and minimal downtime.
  • Optimization of database performance and implementation of database policies and procedures to secure database integrity and availability.
  • Management of database backups and disaster recovery procedures using Cohesity.
  • Root cause analysis and troubleshooting of database issues to provide timely resolutions.
  • Contribution to the design and deployment of database storage structures, backup systems, and security frameworks in line with IT security policies.
  • Maintenance of compliance with database vendor license agreements, including regular updates and patching of database software.
  • Support for resolving database connectivity and performance issues for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Creation of documentation and regular reports concerning database status, job queues, performance metrics, and additional relevant data.
  • Validating the completeness of customer Windows related work requests and quick turnaround responses of asking for more complete and detailed requirements.
  • Patching and upgrades of DB systems.
  • Capacity Management Reporting.
  • Attend Bi-Weekly Engineering meetings to provide progress updates on tasks in progress.
  • Ensure server builds adhere to Fujitsu and customer standards for all areas of work undertaken.
  • Attend MBDA and Fujitsu sites as and when required to ensure deliverables are completed within timescales.
  • Raise immediately, any risks, issues that may impact (a) costs or (b) delivery to timescales or (c) overall solution deployments.
  • Assist in testing activities.
  • Raise change requests and present those at both Fujitsu and MBDA change boards where required.

    About You:

    We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Database Systems Engineer who possesses the following skills and qualifications:

    • Profound understanding of DB2 database management technologies.
    • Proficient with VMware and virtualization environments.
    • Scripting skills in PowerShell, Bash, Python, or similar languages for automation and database task management.
    • Familiarity with both Windows Server and Unix/Linux operating systems.
    • Knowledge of VMware (to the extent of working with DB VM Payloads) with NetApp SAN and Cohesity backups.
