Job Title: Database Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Database Engineer to join our team at Sanderson Government & Defence. As a key member of our Database Management team, you will be responsible for maintaining critical database systems, optimizing performance, and ensuring minimal downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer and monitor DB2 databases to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Optimize database performance to minimize downtime and improve overall system efficiency.
  • Manage backups, disaster recovery, and perform root cause analysis to ensure business continuity.
  • Contribute to the design, deployment, and security of database storage structures to meet business needs.
  • Maintain compliance with vendor license agreements and manage software patching to ensure up-to-date systems.
  • Support stakeholders by resolving database connectivity and performance issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Document database status, performance metrics, and maintain regular reporting to inform business decisions.

Required Technical Skills:

  • Strong expertise in DB2 database management, including administration, monitoring, and optimization.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation and task automation.
  • Experience with VMware, NetApp SAN, Cohesity backups, and virtualized environments to ensure seamless integration.
  • Familiarity with both Windows Server and Unix/Linux operating systems to support diverse infrastructure.
