About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Accountant to join our team in Falmouth, Cornwall. As an Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for assisting the Finance Manager with the Month End Cycle and supporting with the preparation work for the Monthly Management Accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Finance Manager with Month End and Year End tasks
  • Reconcile Supplier Statements and assist with VAT returns
  • Oversee the Purchase Ledger and assist with the input of Purchase Ledger invoices
  • Handle Purchase invoice queries and resolve
  • Prepare supplier payment runs, post the bank, and send remittances
  • Prepare Credit Control Reports with accurate debtor information
  • Assist with Ad-hoc Sales Invoices
  • Support the Management Accountant and other Finance team members with queries and information
  • Seek out errors and inaccuracies in the month end figures
  • Conduct ad-hoc analysis and reporting in Excel

Requirements:

  • Experience in an Assistant Accountant role or similar
  • Good understanding of the Purchase Order process
  • Highly computer literate with accounting software (ideally Sage) and operating at a Basic to Intermediate level with MS Excel
  • Good understanding of VAT and how/when it is applied and reclaimed
  • Keen attention to detail
  • AAT or above would be an advantage, however, experience will be prioritised over qualifications
