Job Description

Head of Harvesting Support

Forestry and Land Scotland is committed to sustainable forest management, and we are seeking a highly skilled professional to lead our harvesting support team.

The successful candidate will provide strategic oversight and technical support to our Regional Delivery teams, ensuring the efficient operation of our timber harvesting machinery fleet. This will involve working on emerging strategic initiatives, including the creation of a harvesting data repository and associated analysis.

The postholder will be responsible for ensuring that relevant service contracts are in place and that harvesting activities meet the requirements of FSC and PEFC certification. They will also provide advice and support to staff regarding service contracts, timber sales contracts, and timber harvesting operations.

The FLS National Marketing and Sales Team plays a crucial role in supporting the harvesting, marketing, and sales of timber, which is a core part of our commitment to sustainable forest management. This role will work closely with the team to ensure that our harvesting activities meet the highest standards.

To be successful in this role, you will need experience in timber harvesting, associated timber sales, procurement, and contract management, as well as pre-felling timber crop surveys.
