Military Litigation Solicitor

AH Solicitors Ltd is seeking an experienced Military Litigation Solicitor to join our team. As a key member of our defence litigation department, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of complex military claims against the Ministry of Defence.
Key Responsibilities- Case Management: Manage a high volume of complex and high-value military claims, including litigated and pre-litigated cases.
- Litigation Expertise: Demonstrate a solid understanding of the technical issues involved in dealing with litigated cases, including knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules.
- Claims Knowledge: Have an excellent working knowledge of Military Claims, Noise Induced Hearing Loss, and/or Short Tail Industrial Disease and Long Tail Industrial Disease, as well as relevant case law.
- Team Player: Demonstrate the ability to take on individual responsibility within a team environment, working collaboratively with colleagues to achieve business objectives.
- Commercial Awareness: Demonstrate commercial awareness and a proactive approach to all aspects of work, including financial management and cost budgeting.
- Decision Making: Demonstrate strong decision-making skills, with the ability to make informed decisions in a fast-paced environment.
- Client Relationships: Develop and maintain strong relationships with internal colleagues and external clients, providing excellent communication skills and client awareness.
- Risk Management: Demonstrate an ability to manage risk on an individual and team level, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
- Technology: Work effectively with a computerised case management system, PROCLAIM, to manage a high and varied litigated caseload.
- Service Delivery: Provide a quality and speedy service to internal and external clients, working to service level agreements and targets.
- Experience: A minimum of 3 years' experience in defence litigation, with a focus on complex and high-value claims.
- Knowledge: Excellent working knowledge of the CPR, with experience of dealing with fast track/multi-track litigated cases, including Short Tail and Long Tail diseases and other industrial disease cases.
- Skills: Excellent drafting capabilities of court documents, excellent advocacy skills, and excellent telephone manner.
- Education: Good understanding of cost budgeting and cost case management conferences, with a basic knowledge of the Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Personal Qualities: Assertiveness, determination to 'get things done', and a good 'people' person with the ability to work well as part of a team.
