Job Overview
The Tax Specialist will engage in a comprehensive range of tax compliance and advisory responsibilities.

This position is ideally suited for a Tax Senior currently employed in a tax department, possessing experience in client-facing roles and eager to advance their career.

The role necessitates fostering strong working relationships with both internal and external stakeholders as required.

Key Responsibilities
To enhance the company's revenue and ensure profitability through:
- Preparation of tax returns and computations, coordinating with HMRC as necessary.
- Familiarity with HMRC's Tax Administration Strategy, including 'Making Tax Digital'.
- Providing tax guidance to the business and our clients, collaborating closely with the Finance team.
- Supporting and driving revenue growth for the business.
- Contributing to the achievement of the team's established objectives.
- Participating in relevant projects that align with the company's goals.
- Performing all duties with a strong commitment to the company's values.
- Undertaking any additional responsibilities pertinent to the role.

Responsibilities & Duties
- In-depth knowledge and application of the Construction Industry Scheme, including compliance deadlines and reporting requirements.
- Calculation and completion of personal and corporate tax returns.
- Offering tax planning advice to clients, liaising with HMRC, and assisting with investigations and challenges.
- Reviewing company financials to identify potential tax efficiencies arising from standard business operations.

- Monitoring the department's client portfolio to ensure compliance with deadlines, including regular communication with senior management regarding work progress.

- Attending client meetings and assisting Directors in resolving tax-related client issues.
- Engaging in relevant projects that support the company's objectives.
- Responding to business inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
- Maintaining up-to-date financial and non-financial records.
- Establishing personal priorities and organizing workload to ensure timely completion of activities.
- Developing knowledge and contributing to any tax processing issues.
- Acting as an effective team member, providing assistance to others as needed.

Qualifications & Skills
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in corporate tax, including preparation of corporate tax computations.
- At least 2 years' experience in self-assessment income tax return preparation for clients.
- A minimum of 2 years' experience in an accounting practice, with familiarity in charging practices.
- CIOT or CTA qualification preferred.

- Strong understanding of UK tax compliance, including income tax, capital allowances, employment taxes, capital gains tax, and planning for key deadlines.

- Management of a current client portfolio of approximately 150 clients.
- Experience working in a team environment, with the ability to support colleagues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS O365 applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and web browsers.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of engaging with clients and colleagues with courtesy and sensitivity.
- A demonstrated commitment to customer service.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy.
- Flexible work approach, with a willingness to adapt to changing requirements.
- Experience with SAGE 200 and SAGE 50 Payroll is advantageous.
- A self-motivated individual with a positive outlook.
