Role Overview
As a Residential Support Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality care and support to children and young people with various needs. This includes behavioral support, mental health challenges, non-verbal communication difficulties, and learning disabilities.
- Deliver exceptional care and support tailored to the individual needs of each child or young person.
- Assist with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and toileting, always promoting independence and dignity.
- Support children and young people in their daily routines, including meal preparation, medication administration, and household chores.
- Build strong and positive relationships with the individuals we support, their families, and other professionals involved in their care.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of all care provided, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience working as a Residential Support Worker or in a similar role within a children's residential setting is essential.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with children, young people, and their families.
- A compassionate and patient nature, with a genuine desire to make a positive difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a dedicated team.
- Basic IT skills, including proficiency with touchscreen devices and computers.
- A valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle are essential for this role.
- Up-to-date training in medication administration, moving and handling techniques, and safeguarding practices is required.
- An Enhanced Adult and Child Workforce DBS check (update service) is mandatory for this position.
