The Weight Engineering division is dedicated to overseeing the total mass and distribution of weight within marine vessels.

The weights team collaborates closely with naval architects to guarantee that the vessel's weight and its distribution yield a stable and buoyant platform.

Additionally, Weight Engineering provides essential support for all module/unit relocations and manages the installation of lead ballast.

Key Responsibilities

To deliver expert Weight Engineering design assistance for all ongoing projects related to submarines and surface vessels.

To execute Weight Engineering tasks that support the company's initiatives for submarines and surface ships.

  • Calculation and monitoring of weights and centers from the conceptual phase through to delivery.
  • Utilization of CAD systems to prepare data for technical and production teams, aiding in unit movements, launches, and undocking processes.

To have access to, comprehend, and apply the Quality and Health, Safety, and Environmental Management System documentation, including:

  • Process Instructions
  • Workmanship Standards
  • Risk Assessments

Regular reporting of weight and center of gravity alterations throughout the design and construction phases, as dictated by contractual obligations.

Monitoring of mass budgets is essential.

Weight Engineering representation is required at spatial and technical reviews and decision-making panels.

Knowledge and Skills

A general understanding of design standards and processes for submarines or surface vessels, including operational considerations.

A foundational knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, commissioning, and testing processes utilized within the organization.

Familiarity with the capabilities and optimal applications of specialized analytical tools.

Awareness of relevant engineering standards, including safety and environmental regulations.

Proficient use of appropriate CAD systems and Windows-based applications is expected.
