Job Title: Graduate Submarines Weights Engineer

Location: Barrow (Cumbria)

As a Graduate Submarines Weights Engineer, you will be part of our team responsible for designing, building, testing, and commissioning the largest and most advanced submarines ever operated by the Royal Navy.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Preparing data for technical and production departments to assist them in the handling and transportation of units, sub units, modules, and rafts.
  2. Undertaking functional design and/or providing specialist advice and qualification of their scope of responsibility and providing evidence for acceptance and fitness for purpose.
  3. To obtain confirmation beyond reasonable doubt by review, surveillance, and audit those assumptions, underpinning engineering data, analysis methodologies, and interpretation of results are valid.
  4. To produce evidence in support of qualification, legislative requirements, and safety justifications and provide specialist support for associated activities.
  5. To contribute to identification and rapid closure of issues emerging from all product lifecycle stages and to manage the resulting change embodiment activities.
  6. To liaise with both internal and external customers as required ensuring that their requirements are adequately supported and that their needs are fully considered and incorporated where appropriate and agreed.

Requirements:

  • A minimum requirement is to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
