POSITION OVERVIEW

As a Principal Piping and Layout Specialist, you will take on a pivotal role in guiding and overseeing a team of engineers, both internal and external, to ensure project objectives are met with excellence. Your leadership will foster a collaborative environment and promote a culture of mentorship for junior engineers, enhancing their professional growth.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Execute piping and layout engineering assignments in accordance with industry standards and project specifications.
  • Assume the position of lead engineer for piping and layout tasks in various projects.
  • Evaluate and provide insights on the piping and layout engineering efforts conducted by project teams or external partners to ensure compliance with project specifications.
  • Review and assess piping and layout designs using advanced 3D modeling software such as AVEVA E3D and Bentley Microstation, along with isometric piping drawings, and implement necessary modifications.
  • Deliver results that align with quality, budgetary constraints, deadlines, and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards.
  • Drive enhancements and standardization of engineering practices with a focus on efficiency, quality, cost-effectiveness, and HSE compliance.
  • Facilitate and actively engage in technical meetings across disciplines, including interface discussions.
  • Contribute to project timelines, budget assessments, risk evaluations, and team resource allocation.
  • Identify, analyze, and report on technical discrepancies, non-conformities, and lessons learned.
  • Support and collaborate in the change management process.
  • Participate in supplier and site testing activities as required by project specifications.
  • Engage in hazard evaluation workshops as mandated by project requirements.
  • Take part in quality and technical audits as directed by management.
  • Work closely with colleagues to achieve shared business objectives.
  • Mentor junior engineers to facilitate their professional development.
  • Contribute to fostering a positive work atmosphere and strong team cohesion within the local and global teams.
  • Willingness to travel as necessary for project requirements.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Significant experience in piping and layout engineering within the energy, process, renewables, or oil and gas sectors.
  • In-depth knowledge of international standards such as API, ISO, NORSOK, ASME, and EU regulations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Capability to maintain a holistic view of piping and layout design while prioritizing tasks effectively.
  • Experience in overseeing fabrication and construction processes with a solid understanding of cost drivers.
DESIRABLE SKILLS
  • Proficient in the administration and implementation of 3D modeling tools utilized at NOV Process Systems, including AVEVA E3D and Bentley Microstation.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken; proficiency in Norwegian is advantageous.
