About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join our team at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care NHS Trust. As a Clinical/Counselling Psychologist, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality psychological services to our patients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver Clinical or Counselling Psychology core values and clinical practice, working with a diverse service user group with a range of complex mental health needs.
  • Lead on psychology referrals, provide specialist EIP individual interventions, and other psychological interventions to suit individual need.
  • Develop and offer group therapies, individual and group supervision/reflective practice, contribute to the psychological formulation of risk assessment, and provide consultation within the team.
  • Participate in local and national audits, and incorporate the use of data and research to support service performance.

  • Advanced ability to develop and maintain a therapeutic relationship and manage transference appropriately
  • Able to formulate and articulate sound judgement based on analysis and interpretation of a broad range of complex information in both clinical and organisational contexts
  • Able to prioritise own work and deal with competing demands to work effectively
  • Able to undertake psychological assessments, treatments and consultation in a variety of environments, sometimes under difficult emotional circumstances
  • Committed to promote clients' rights, independence and choice, and a person-centred approach to care
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
  • Skilled in administering standardised questionnaires and psychometric assessments, highly developed observational skills
  • Able to carry out research supervision
  • Experience in appropriate and up to date methods in dealing with patients who may be very distressed, have cognitive impairment, may be aggressive, or have a history of developmental trauma
  • Experience of strategic planning and service development
  • Experience of providing clinical supervision to trainees, assistant psychologists and/or other professionals
  • Experience of teaching and training psychologists and other multi-disciplinary staff
  • Experience of teaching on a Doctoral Clinical/Counselling Psychology course
