We are seeking an experienced Materials Buyer to join our Commercial team in Byfleet, Surrey. This is a Fixed Term Contract role.
As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the cost-effective and timely purchasing of materials required for our award-winning developments in the South East region.
You will work closely with our Commercial, Construction, Finance, and Technical teams to ensure seamless collaboration and effective communication.
Key responsibilities include:
- Measuring drawings, taking off quantities, and preparing schedules, estimates, and other working documents.
- Providing material costs for construction budgets.
- Sourcing suitable suppliers and issuing tender enquiry documents.
- Negotiating proposed order values and new Regional Supply agreements.
You will also be responsible for producing a monthly forecast report for the Board and preparing budgets, schedules, and estimates.
Requirements
We are looking for a commercially astute negotiator with a background in Construction and experience as a Materials Buyer. You should have a valid UK driver's license and be able to read and understand architect drawings, specification documents, and standard detail drawings.
A construction-related qualification, such as a HNC, and specific knowledge of conventional 3-4 storey masonry construction would be desirable.
