About the Job

The Ministry of Defence is seeking a highly skilled Health and Safety Advisor to join the Joint Aviation Command team. As a key member of the Safety and Assurance team, you will be responsible for providing expert advice and guidance on health, safety, and environmental matters to the Commander Joint Aviation Command.

Job Summary

This is a diverse and challenging role that requires a strong understanding of Defence and Aviation activities. You will work closely with other Health and Safety professionals from across the Defence organisation to ensure the safety of personnel and the effective management of risk.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide health, safety, and environmental advice and guidance to the Commander Joint Aviation Command
  • Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures
  • Conduct risk assessments and provide recommendations for mitigating risks
  • Investigate incidents and accidents, and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Work with other departments within Joint Aviation Command to deliver safety improvements
  • Monitor and track significant Risk to Life (RtL) and Significant Known Activity Risks (SKAR)
Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety professional who can demonstrate:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Experience in changing and improving processes
  • Effective decision-making skills
  • Ability to undertake health and safety assurance
Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have:

  • NEBOSH General Level 3 or equivalent
  • Experience of working in a Defence Health and Safety environment
  • Experience of working within Aviation is desirable
