An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Force Protection (FP) Advisor (Safety, Health, Environmental and Fire). The post requires an individual able to work collaboratively and support the senior FP advisor to ensure the Field Army has appropriate governance and assurance, systems and processes. Contributing to an effective safety culture that enables the delivery of demanding training, whilst keeping our people safe and promoting a positive, proactive learning environment.

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

**Job description**:
The role requires a motivated individual to work within Headquarters Field (Fd) Army as part of a vibrant and highly performing team delivering safety on behalf of CFA.

The Force Protection Advisor will be responsible to the senior safety advisor for assuring Fd Army organisations are operating safely and in accordance with Statutory Law and Defence Regulations. The post will offer advice to Headquarters Fd Army on Safety, Health, Environmental and Fire.

There is opportunity for travel within the UK and overseas.

**Person specification**:
RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Ensure safety management systems, processes and governance frameworks are in place, aligned to Army Command Standing Orders.
- Provision of advice and guidance to the Field Army for the delivery of Force Protection through Safety Risk Management.
- Manage the SHEF Risk Register to record and manage safety risks and maintain registers of all dispensations and of all activities escalated for oversight.
- Measure SHEF performance and safety culture by analysing leading and lagging indicators: monthly through the Forces Protection Working Group; quarterly through the Fd Army Command Group and Quarterly Performance & Risk Reporting; biannually through the Field Army Health and Safety Executive Committee and Army Health, Safety and Environment Committee.
- Provide 2nd Party Assurance of Field Army Formations (including feedback of assurance visits), informed by Formation 1st Party Assurance, and monitor the activities of subordinate Risk Owners to supply advice and guidance as needed.
- Support line management to improve the Field Army Safety Culture by informing and influencing change in the development of SRM policy, training, and publications.
- In consultation with the Army Reporting Centre and Safety Organisational Learning, provide oversight of occurrence reporting and subsequent investigations on the Defence Unified Reporting and Lessons System in support of proactive learning.
- Engage with key safety policy and assurance stakeholders, predominately Capability Safety Group, Army Safety Centre, and Regional Command, on the interpretation and implementation of emerging policy.
- Consult with the Capability Safety Group to ensure a collaborative approach, considering the full smarter ways of working and the impact of controls on operational outputs, is taken in the production of Safety Notices.
- Act as secretary for the monthly Working Group, managing inputs and outputs.
- Deputise for line management at high level meetings during periods of absence.

- B driving licence.

***Learning and development:

- Level 3 General certificate in NEBOSH or Risk Management qualification - to be completed within first 6 months of employment.
- Opportunity to work towards a level 6 in Occupational Health and Safety Management.
- BS45001 Lead Auditor.
