What We Seek:
We are excited to welcome an experienced and innovative individual to our team as a Facilities Operations Technician. This role will collaborate closely with the Facilities Operations Technician, Building and Event Operations Manager, and the Head of Space/s. In essence, you will be tasked with overseeing and maintaining your assigned spaces.
To excel in this position, you should possess a solid background in facilities management, along with experience in mechanical and electrical engineering. A proactive, hands-on approach is essential, as is the ability to perform routine maintenance and repairs in our venues. Experience in managing large industrial buildings with diverse components is preferred.
The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the seamless operation of the building, guaranteeing compliance and upholding high Health and Safety standards.
You will also support the corporate and live events team by assisting with any building and operational needs related to our corporate and live events bookings.
As an ambassador for your venues, you will play a crucial role in enhancing and maintaining our brand image through all interactions with customers, suppliers, and colleagues.
Key Responsibilities:
Building Management
- Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly inspections of the buildings, services, and infrastructure, including:
- Fire alarm testing
- Sprinkler and smoke ventilation systems testing
- Fire door inspections
- Emergency light testing
- Utility meter readings
- Water temperature measurements
- HVAC inspections
- Layher staircase inspections
- Forklift inspections
- MEWP inspections
- Ensuring compliance of all M&E elements through record-keeping, reporting, and managing maintenance issues as they arise.
- Perform general preventative and reactive maintenance of the buildings and assets as needed, overseeing and assisting tradespeople and suppliers.
- Support external contractors with inspections, testing, and servicing as required by law, ensuring compliance and managing maintenance issues.
- Maintain a tidy and presentable building at all times.
- Facilitate fire safety and Health & Safety training for staff within the buildings.
- Supervise incoming production and event staff, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures.
- Act as the Building Manager for assigned events and live shows.
- Open and secure buildings and spaces, acting as a key holder and responding to call-outs as necessary.
- Stay informed about current HSE laws and implement necessary changes to uphold health and safety standards.
Team Development
- Communicate your training needs and actively engage in your own development aligned with the expectations of your line manager.
- Assist the line manager with property management recruitment for your team as needed.
- Foster a work environment that reflects Broadwick values and principles.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Commit to best practices and champion appropriate processes.
- Perform ad hoc duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Access to your own vehicle.
- Comprehensive understanding of health and safety, compliance, and environmental legislation.
- Strong practical knowledge of electrical installations and maintenance; recognized electrical qualifications are essential.
- Experience in managing M&E within large industrial, commercial, or event spaces is desirable.
- Background in creating systems for monitoring and recording M&E testing in a building.
- Experience in plumbing, carpentry, or general minor building works.
- Availability to work late nights and weekends as required.
- Ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Capability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks, especially during peak periods.
- Competency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, Outlook, and Excel; familiarity with Slack and/or Monday is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recognized qualifications in facilities management and Health & Safety Management.
- Experience with AutoCAD.
- Forklift, IPAF, and First Aid training are advantageous.
