Position Overview
The Interventional Radiology (DSA) Suite is a specialized area within the Department of Medical Imaging, operating Monday to Friday with an emergency on-call service during evenings and weekends.
This department focuses on advanced interventional techniques including vascular angiography, nephrostomies, biliary stenting, embolization, ultrasound-guided biopsies, diagnostic coronary angiography, and pacemaker insertions. The nursing team also supports patients in other Medical Imaging areas such as CT, ultrasound, and the main X-ray department. Additionally, we provide a Radiology nurse/radiographer-led vascular access service for the Trust.
The Interventional Radiology (DSA) Suite offers a dynamic and engaging work environment. The successful candidate will join a dedicated team of nurses, radiographers, consultants, and support staff, all committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities
This is an exceptional opportunity for skilled and experienced nurses eager to broaden their expertise in interventional radiology. We provide a thorough training program within a nurturing learning atmosphere. You will acquire a variety of competencies as a scrub nurse, circulating nurse, and in the pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-recovery care of patients undergoing interventional radiology and cardiology procedures. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a commitment to personal development and a strong interest in the advancement of the profession and imaging services.
Upon completing all required competencies, participation in the emergency on-call rota will be necessary, which includes nights, weekends, and bank holidays.
Furthermore, the Medical Imaging service is progressing towards an extended working day/week in alignment with the NHS Plan, thus a flexible approach is essential.
