Job Overview

OLG Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Production Engineer for a prominent client. This position is a permanent, full-time role based at a manufacturing facility. The standard working hours are 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Please note that this role does not offer remote work options.

Role Objective:

The Production Engineer is tasked with enhancing production workflows, ensuring superior product quality, and meeting essential performance metrics (KPIs) within the plasterboard manufacturing environment. Key responsibilities include executing daily operational assessments, managing enhancement initiatives, guiding floor staff, designing mechanical components, and analyzing data to foster ongoing improvements and operational excellence. This role is vital for boosting efficiency, minimizing expenses, and ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Comply with Health and Safety regulations and UK HSE laws to guarantee a safe working environment for all.
  • Uphold high standards of Health and Safety, Quality, and security within the workplace, ensuring compliance with ISO standards.
  • Perform regular inspections and evaluations of production operations to ensure optimal functioning and compliance with quality benchmarks.
  • Manage short- and medium-term projects aimed at surpassing production KPIs related to efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to floor personnel, ensuring adherence to best practices and prompt resolution of operational challenges.
  • Conduct periodic process evaluations and suggest further modifications as necessary.
  • Design and draft small-scale mechanical components necessary for process enhancements and equipment upgrades.
  • Lead and implement continuous improvement initiatives and Statistical Process Control (SPC) projects on the production line to boost productivity, minimize waste, and optimize resource use.
  • Analyze data to identify patterns, uncover inefficiencies, and develop actionable insights for process improvements.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including maintenance, engineering, and production management, to drive effective process enhancements.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively and influence others in a dynamic environment, with flexibility in working hours.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and SAP applications.
  • Degree in a scientific or engineering discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Professional experience in plasterboard production or comparable manufacturing experience.
  • Consideration will be given to post-graduates (salary will vary based on experience) and candidates with 1-2 years of experience.
  • Required: BSc in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
