Position Overview

The House of Commons is seeking a dedicated Finance Business Partner to enhance their Finance, Portfolio and Performance (FPP) team. This role is integral to the effective functioning of the House, which serves as a cornerstone of UK democracy, influencing legislative processes and overseeing governmental accountability. The FPP department plays a vital role in aligning financial strategies with the House's overarching objectives, ensuring that operations are both efficient and impactful.

Role Responsibilities

As a Finance Business Partner, you will be responsible for:

  • Establishing and nurturing robust relationships across the House to ensure that financial considerations are central to strategic decision-making.
  • Engaging in comprehensive planning, budgeting, and forecasting activities, while delivering insightful financial analysis.
  • Facilitating long-term financial strategies, critically assessing investment proposals, and supporting various commercial initiatives.
  • Collaborating with the central financial management team and project management units to advocate for the financial interests of the House.

Your contributions will also include implementing recommendations from an independent review of financial management practices, thereby shaping the future of financial governance within the House of Commons.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • CCAB or CIMA qualification, or be part-qualified (including AAT Level 4).
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex financial concepts for diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in fostering a collaborative environment and driving organizational objectives.
  • The capability to adapt communication styles to effectively engage with various audiences, influencing decision-making at all levels.
  • A strong understanding of the interplay between business operations and financial management, utilizing data and visual tools to support informed decision-making.
  • Leadership qualities to guide teams and cultivate strong partnerships that align with the values of equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Compensation and Benefits

The role offers a competitive salary of £41,340, with an additional contribution of £11,161 towards membership in the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme. Additional benefits include:
