Your Role: Ensuring Safety at the Forefront
As a Health & Safety Manager within our Total Recycling division, you'll play a vital role in upholding the highest safety standards across our operations. You'll be responsible for monitoring compliance with legal requirements and Biffa's comprehensive safety framework.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting thorough health and safety inspections and audits to identify potential risks and ensure adherence to established protocols.
- Preparing detailed weekly and monthly compliance reports for senior management, providing insights into the effectiveness of our safety programs.
- Delivering engaging training sessions to all staff members on essential topics such as risk assessment, manual handling, and emergency procedures.
- Cultivating a proactive safety culture throughout the site by promoting awareness, encouraging open communication, and fostering a collaborative approach to hazard identification and mitigation.
Your Expertise: A Commitment to Excellence
We're seeking an experienced professional with a proven track record in industrial health and safety management. Your deep understanding of relevant regulations and best practices will be instrumental in ensuring a safe and productive work environment.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Extensive experience working within an industrial setting, demonstrating a strong ability to implement innovative safety solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of confined space works, breathing apparatus (BA), high & ultra-high pressure water activities in complex/multi-hazard environments.
- Level 5 City & Guilds in management of confined spaces is highly desirable.
- Experience in chemical/hazardous spill remediation and a proactive approach to preparing teams for reactive high-risk scenarios.
- Proven ability to train personnel effectively, translating regulatory requirements into practical safe working practices.
- IOSH/NEBOSH certification.
