Position Overview:

We are in search of a skilled and experienced Solution Architect to become a vital part of our innovative team. The selected candidate will play a crucial role in crafting and supervising the deployment of cutting-edge software and hardware solutions tailored to meet the demands of our organization and our clients. The ideal applicant will possess a robust technical foundation, outstanding communication abilities, and a demonstrated history of successfully delivering intricate projects within stipulated timelines and budgets.

Required Experience:
  • Experience in the Public Sector or with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP)
  • Familiarity with Government Digital Service (GDS) standards
  • Proven track record of collaborating with vendors and other suppliers
  • Whitemail experience is advantageous but not mandatory
  • Ability to lead, deliver, and support the technical design of a product or component of a shared platform to fulfill user requirements and business goals.
  • Responsible for ensuring the quality of technical design and compliance with enterprise architecture principles and roadmaps
  • Establish relationships and collaborate with digital professionals in agile delivery teams to create value-for-money solution designs that satisfy user needs
  • Engage with Enterprise Architects, Domain Architects, Lead Solution Architects, and engineering teams to implement solutions in accordance with approved architectural designs.
  • Accountable for product architecture in alignment with engineering and deliver product solutions.
  • Identify, document, share, and refine architectural patterns to ensure consistent and coherent architecture design, contributing to the overall Enterprise Architecture.
  • Develop reference architectures as practical examples of successful architectural design.
  • Generate solution options and recommendations during project discovery and inception phases to facilitate decision-making on optimal solution design.
  • Make informed technology choices for products in line with the enterprise architecture blueprint, contributing to the update of technology policies as necessary.
  • Support the development of an inclusive digital culture within the organization.
Technical Expertise:
  • Design patterns for API and Event-Based architecture, including publish-subscribe and data streaming
  • Architecting event-driven architecture across multiple data centers and public cloud environments
  • API Gateway and micro-gateway patterns, including capabilities such as traffic management, security, logging, monitoring, and authentication (e.g., Kong API Gateway)
  • Agile and DevOps methodologies and best practices.
  • Microservices and API-Led architecture, along with integration design tools and techniques.
  • Public cloud technologies, cloud hosting, containerization, and networking design patterns, tools, and best practices.
  • Commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions and relational databases.
